2026 TCU Celebration of Philanthropy Program
Interactive Station Immersed in Mind and Motion
“ Immersed in Exercise ” is a research initiative led by Dr. Robyn B. Trocchio at TCU that explores the intersection of virtual reality (VR) and physical fitness. By utilizing full-immersion VR, the Sport & Exercise Psychology Lab aims to combat physical inactivity by increasing exercise enjoyment and motivation. The research highlights “dissociative attention,” where VR headsets help participants focus away from physical discomfort during activities like rowing. Furthermore, the program investigates “digital mindfulness” to improve emotional regulation and exercise tolerance, providing innovative, technology-driven solutions to enhance human performance and long-term health outcomes.
