TCU seeks out professors who are passionate about teaching and conducting research. These teacher-scholars challenge and invest in their students’ personal growth, forging connections that have been and will continue to be at the center of the TCU experience. Endowed faculty positions attract eminent national and international scholars who infuse content with context, cultivating a depth and breadth of understanding in a culture that nurtures creative and intellectual thinking. In turn, these outstanding scholars attract other exceptional faculty and the brightest students. Endowed chairs and professorships are integral, then, to TCU’s place as a powerful academic community that prepares global leaders with the excellence, perspective and integrity to become a force for the greater good. 1956 Addie Levy Professorship of Literature Donor: Estate of Dan Ashton Levy Holder: This position is currently open. 1968 Herman Brown Chair of Political Science Donor: The Brown Foundation, Inc. Dr. Reuben F. Burch Vice Provost for Research

As vice provost for research, Dr. Burch provides vision, direction and strategic planning to increase research funding and scholarly productivity to support TCU’s national research agenda. He over- sees the Office of Sponsored Programs

and Research Compliance and Integrity and works closely with the TCU Provost, deans, Office of Graduate Studies, University Strategy & Innovation Office and TCU faculty and staff to expand TCU’s research enterprise. Under his leadership, TCU will increase research opportunities for both graduate and undergraduate students and strengthen and establish collaborative programs and partnerships with institutions, agencies, industry and other organizations. Key priorities are to advance and enhance TCU’s research infrastructure, implement new initiatives to increase research support, and promote TCU’s research accomplishments to educate the broader community about the value of research. Burch previously worked at Mississippi State University, where he was the associate vice president for research, executive director and founder of the Athlete Engineering Institute, Jack Hatcher Endowed Chair in engineering entrepreneurship, and professor of industrial and systems engineering. He holds a B.S. in computer engineering from Mississippi State, an M.E.M. in industrial and manufacturing system engineering from Kansas State University and the Ph.D. in industrial and systems engineering from Mississippi State.

Interactive Station Innovation in Orbit: Designs for NASA’s Future

Fashion met science recently as an interdisciplinary team from TCU won the 2025 Best Innovation Award at NASA’s Spaceflight Human Optimization Conference for their project, “ Innovation in Orbit: Optimized Suit Environmental Protection Garment Seams .” The team, advised by Dr. Charles E. Freeman, devel oped a “mutant seam” designed to prevent lunar dust from penetrating astronaut spacesuits. Utilizing Kevlar and Teflon, prototypes underwent rigorous simulations with lunar simulant dust, proving highly durable. NASA mentors are interested in integrating this technology into future Artemis mission space suits, and the team is exploring terrestrial applications for improved Personal Protective Equipment.

Dr. Charles E. Freeman Department Chair, Professor of Fashion Merchandising Director of Research and Creative Scholarship Initiatives College of Fine Arts Dr. Freeman brings a wealth of industry expertise

and research interests to TCU, focusing particularly on product development, cotton end-use and creative thinking processes. A distinguished leader in his field, he was named president-elect of the International Textile and Apparel Association for 2025. Beyond his academic roles, Dr. Freeman is an active entrepre neur, serving as the CEO of Humo, LLC and Humo.golf. Prior to joining TCU in 2024, he was an associate professor at Mississippi State University, specializing in textile and apparel research.

Dr. Kayla N. Green Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Affairs Professor of Chemistry Louise Dilworth Davis College of Science & Engineering Dr. Green earned a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from Texas A&M University in 2007 and completed postdoc toral training in advanced imaging at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She joined the faculty at TCU in 2010, was promoted to associate professor in 2016, and to full professor in 2022. In 2025, she was appointed assistant dean in the Louise Dilworth Davis College of Science & Engineering. Dr. Green is actively engaged in student mentoring, STEM outreach and advancing inclusive pathways in science, and her research and service have received broad institutional and national recognition. The Green Research Group at TCU , led by Dr. Kayla N. Green, is an interdisciplinary laboratory focusing on inorganic chemis try, biology and physics to address biomedical challenges. The group’s primary research involves developing small molecules using organic and inorganic synthetic methods to combat oxidative stress and metal-ion misregulation in neurodegener ative conditions like Alzheimer’s disease and cataracts. Additionally, the group researches novel metal-based cata lysts for chemical transformations and explores advanced MRI contrast agents and electrochemical biosensors for cancer biomarkers.

The Natural Resources Research Initiative (NRRI) is a university wide program launched in 2025 to address global environmental and resource challenges. Led by inaugural director Dr. Omar R. Harvey, the initiative supports TCU’s goal of achieving R1 research status by coordinating interdisciplinary efforts across departments. The NRRI collaborates with established entities like the Institute for Environmental Studies and the Ralph Lowe Energy Institute to advance research in sustainability, energy and conservation. By integrating expertise from the Davis College of Science & Engineering and the Neeley School of Business, the initiative fosters innovation in Earth systems science and environmental management. Interactive Station Immersed in Mind and Motion

“ Immersed in Exercise ” is a research initiative led by Dr. Robyn B. Trocchio at TCU that explores the intersection of virtual reality (VR) and physical fitness. By utilizing full-immersion VR, the Sport & Exercise Psychology Lab aims to combat physical inactivity by increasing exercise enjoyment and motivation. The research highlights “dissociative attention,” where VR headsets help participants focus away from physical discomfort during activities like rowing. Furthermore, the program investigates “digital mindfulness” to improve emotional regulation and exercise tolerance, providing innovative, technology-driven solutions to enhance human performance and long-term health outcomes.

Dr. Robyn B. Trocchio Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences

Dr. Trocchio is an associate professor of kine siology at TCU, director of the MS in Kinesiology Program, and director of the TCU Sport & Exercise Psychology Lab. She holds a doctorate in sport and exercise psychology from Florida State University, a master’s in sport and exercise psychology from Barry University and a Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of Florida. She is a Certified Mental Perfor mance Consultant® (CMPC) and provides mental performance consulting to athletes and exercisers ranging from youth to professionals.
